Papillon kids clothing store by Greece-based Anarchitect studio is a delightful retail space featuring a whimsical environment.

The clothing store located in Katerini, highlights the playfulness and fun factor loved by kids right from its entrance facade. The welcoming entrance has a separate door for little fellas to step into a interiors with wooden cutouts of animals and birds flying around. Inside is a window display decorated with wooden toys and clothes next to the billing counter at the entrance. The clothes displayed in wooden shelves have pitched roofs similar to kids representation of a typical house drawing.

Wooden crafted deer for displaying clothes

As the kids move around they encounter upon blown up sizes of a dinosaur, deer and Rubik’s cube-all crafted precisely by CNC machines. The house shaped changing rooms with variable heights stands out as visual focal point. Cut-outs of colorful, small birds acting as wall lights are part of the fun furnishings. This memorable kid’s clothing store strays from the traditional, incorporating a design which embraces the inner child of the young customers !

From the Architects –

Papillon is a retail store in the field of kids clothing.

“The intention was to create an environment where kids should feel happy to go, stay, play and get dressed. What we achieved, is a place where kids never go away from.”

Rubik’s cube as base for the glass counter

With this in mind from conception stage through to completion, the whole process was a task of happiness for the client, the designer and all those who worked there. The design concept was to create an interior space like no other in kids retail store, with dinosaurs, birds and all sort of what a young client would love to see.

The design was based on a study of scale, where lego figures were designed 20 times larger, rubik’s cube 50 times larger to work as a drawer and lots of other kids games that had to grow, so they look attractive in everyone’s eyes. Besides from that, emphasis was given to the elevation, where a small entrance for the little fellas located at the centre of the façade, having width of half a meter and height about a meter.

It is so rewarding watching the kids going inside and outside over 10 times within a minute from this door…

The wood craftsmen were happy working on this particular project. It was not one more kitchen for them, or a shelf, it was something beyond work. Happy faces created perfect details in all constructions with the CNC machines working more than 15 hours a day. Eco-friendly colors on all surfaces were a must on this project.
