This micro flat, designed by PhoebeSayswow Architects Ltd. in Taiwan brings together a multifunctional modern space via meticulous thoughtful design.

The Muzha Micro Flat creatively uses space and design to create something functional and beautiful. Designed by Phoebe Wen and Shihhwa Hung, this 33 sq. mts of compact space is equipped with amenities of an apartment double its size. The micro apartment is an amazing example of effective use of space is Taiwan city. As apartments grow smaller, the architects looked upon this micro flat to make the most of the space available. The guest house prototype focused on smart design and in doing so, manages to work with the minimal space available.

Double height living space

The highlight of this micro flat is the utilization of double height ceiling and connections to multiple levels. A movable ladder and stone bench helps to access these connections. The full height cupboards offer significant storage space without taking up undue amounts of room. The micro-apartment is a great example of smart architecture, and proves that compact living can still be elegant and comfortable.Storage space, Wardrobe, Open shelves, Furniture design, Micro flat, Taiwan

From the Architects –

Muzha Micro Flat

PhoebeSayswow Architects Ltd. was invited to design a 33 sq.m. guest house prototype for neutral genders who enjoys a smart living in metropolitan city.  The site is compact with a partial double-height ceiling. A versatile storage wall was installed and connected to wardrobes on mezzanine level while extended to the kitchen at lower level.

Open shelves

We conceived a movable ladder and a stair bench to connect different levels while giving a touch of playfulness and a sense of gathering to the house. The design speaks a succinct and exquisite visual language by using two contrasting but coherent materials: birch wood and glazed tiles featuring cherry pink grouts.

The target user of the micro flat is expected to enjoy a spatial quality which satisfies one’s solitary moments and feel-like-party soul.  We acknowledged this narrative while carried out the design. Birch wood gives a sense of warmth and calms people while the white glazed tiles is about pepping up spirits and rinsing one’s mind.

Simple, lively sleeping space

The spatial arrangement is however prepared for the party minds. The three dimensional levels of seating encourages a dynamic conversation within the flat. Our intention again is to create a cozy and fun living experience with no gender differences only to serve the user’s need in a more uplifted fashion.
